Anna Paquin was born in Winnipeg and raised in Wellington. She made her acting debut as Flora McGrath in The romantic-drama film Piano. Paquin played Frankie Addams in a 1997 television movie adaptation of Carson McCullers's novel The Member of the Wedding as well as a small role as Queen of Spain in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997). The actress played teenagers on the screen in Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (1998), A Walk on the Moon (1998) as well as Almost Famous (2000). In addition, she portrayed the groupie Polexia Aphrodisa.
